Time is the moving image of eternity

Tags :I start most of my days early, browsing my RSS feeds in Reeder while the rest of the family sleeps, and love stumbling upon a Waiter Rant post. I discovered the weblog after enjoying the Audible book back in 2008 (I read it again last year).
I can’t say I’ve read all his posts, but I enjoy starting the day with one of his insights. It paints a smile on my face. More than once have I related to the thoughts and emotions he uncovers through his personal and family stories. I like his direct almost conversational style. It feels natural and genuine.
Today’s post reminded me of my children growing up, to me walking them to school holding their little hands despite them about to begin middle school. Our Saturday burgers at the RoadRunner, spending the day at the pool or walking the toy shops. I was enjoying as much of their childhood as I could. The metaphor of using them as an anchor to be kept from being swept away resonated with me.
“[…] All we truly have is now and what is there is all we’ll ever need.”
I was aware time was fleeting, and still am more than ever. They are young adults now, both are passionate about their studies, and have completed a Bachelor degree. They are enjoying life. Truth is we’re all moving in the same direction, and we don’t stop living, loving and making memories. Change is inevitable, and it’s a good thing.
Off to work now.
Posted from the terrasse of “Au Platane” on my way to work.
