Unimaginable

On New Year’s Eve, a place meant for celebration became the scene of an unspeakable tragedy. The Constellation bar in Crans-Montana caught fire, killing 40 people and leaving over a 100 severely injured. Half of those who died were under 20 years old.

A black ribbon in respect of the victims and families of the Crans-Montana tragedy

This should never have happened. It is unimaginable and unfathomable that so many (young) lives were lost in a space meant to be safe. Numbers fail to convey the reality of what that night stole: futures interrupted, families shattered, parents facing the one pain no one should ever have to endure.

The grief carried by the families and loved ones is impossible to grasp. It gives me goose pimples to even try. Children are not meant to die before their parents. When they do, something breaks far beyond the immediate circle of loss—it fractures a community.

My thoughts keep returning to that dark event, and my deepest sympathies go to all those affected by this tragedy.

Let us stand by our youth—their strength, their resilience, and the hope they carry—and honor them by ensuring that such a failure of safety and care is never repeated.
