How to enjoy Instagram ad-free — 06 Oct 2019

I don’t know about you, but I feel the number of ads inserted in Instagram’s feed is raising every week. I am almost at 1 out of 4. Finding their way into stories and maybe soon messages ?

Jeremy Keith pointed out a simple way of enjoying an ad free experience without giving up on any feature : save the progressive web app to your home screen.

The experience is near identical to the native app (no browser chrome), including double tap to love a post, etc.

Try the following,

1. Open Instagram in Safari on your iPhone;
2. Tap the share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow pointing up) and select “Add to Home Screen”;
3. Return to the springboard and tap the new Instagram icon;
4. Login and save your info, and voilà! No more ads inserted into your feed – bliss.
