Post your Safari GUI wishes

Dave Hyatt, co-author of Safari and author of the weblog Surfin' Safari, has launched a thread "Your Thoughts Go Here" on what you'd like to see implemented in Safari's next graphic user interface (GUI). Go ahead, and just let him know. There were 220+ comments when I posted mine.. Update 030208: I removed the direct link to Dave's weblog entry which was closed down due to bandwidth limitations. You can't post comments directly on his weblog anymore, but he'll carry on reading the various trackbacks.

    Hello Dave;
    Please! More options when control-clicking (or right mouse button clicking). I’d like to see a “Back” (to previous page) and a “Close Window” option here too. Even a Spring-Back option would be good here as well as in the address bar.
    Also a full screen mode without the standard Mac Menu bar, and a “Move” hand in addition to the scroll bars. A method of chaning the location of items in the Safari Menu Bar would help too.
    Thanks for the chance to speak up!

    Patrice:

    Here are a few comments about Safari’s UI :
    1/ Use standard toolbar. I want to be able to show/hide the toolbar as any other standard OS X application
    2/ Brushed metal is not appropriate for a browser and violates Apple’s own GUI guidelines
    3/ Do not use custom GUI Button. They do not feet well with Aqua.
    4/ When typing an URL, Tab should allow the user to go to the next matching known url (like the right arrow key). It’s the behaviour of all good browsers on the planet
    I’ll try to think about some more ;)
    Keep up the good work.
